Money will be an issue for the Milwaukee Brewers this
offseason, making them a long shot to sign free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton,
reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Two weeks ago it was reported that the Brewers were seriously considering pursuing Hamilton this winter. The reasoning behind their
interest was that they felt Milwaukee was a good market for Hamilton and
several of their coaches, including Johnny Narron, are extremely close to the
outfielder.
However, reports recently came out that Hamilton will be seeking a deal in the seven-year, $175 million range. This figures to be well
out of the range of the Brewers and many other clubs. If Hamilton is able to
fetch a deal of this caliber it would certainly narrow his list of potential
suitors.
But that is a big if considering the question marks
surrounding the 2010 American League MVP. While he is extremely talented, teams
are reportedly more interested in offering Hamilton a high annual salary over a
much shorter term. Some analysts have said they wouldn’t be willing to go over
three years.
