Jeff Keppinger Rumors: Cubs, Diamondbacks, Rays "Aggressive" Suitors

The Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays had all been “aggressive” suitors for free agent infielder Jeff Keppinger before he broke his leg, reports Buster Olney of ESPN.

Keppinger recently broke his right fibula after tripping down a flight of stairs at his home. Despite the injury, the 32-year-old plans on being ready to return by mid-January.

Keppinger signed with the Rays last offseason and hit .325/.367/.439 with 15 doubles, one triple and nine home runs over 385 at-bats. He owns a career line of .288/.337/.396 over eight seasons at the major league level and has experience manning each infield position.
