Dodgers Rumors: LA Eyeing Zack Greinke, Hiroki Kuroda, Anibal Sanchez

Even with six veteran starting pitchers under contract for the 2013 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in the market for another arm, reports Jayson Stark of ESPN. He notes that the team is considering free agent right-handers Zack Greinke, Hiroki Kuroda and Anibal Sanchez.

The six pitchers Los Angeles has under contract include Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Ted Lilly, Chris Capuano, Josh Beckett and Aaron Harang. The health of Lilly and Billingsley for the start of next season is in question, and the team is reportedly expected to trade at least one starting pitcher this winter.

Greinke and Sanchez are younger players that would require a longer commitment. Kuroda, a former Dodger, on the other hand, may be willing to accept a one- or two-year contract depending on how much longer he wants to pitch. All three arms are at or near the top of this winter’s starting pitcher market, so the Dodgers are clearly aiming high in their pursuit of an additional arm.
