Blue Jays Rumors: Toronto Targeting Shaun Marcum?

The Toronto Blue Jays have called to inquire about the “market price” for free agent Shaun Marcum, reports Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun.

The Jays called to inquire about the market price for former Jays right-hander, free agent Shaun Marcum, who went 20-11 with a 3.60 ERA in 44 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers in two seasons after being dealt for Brett Lawrie.

Marcum was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2003 and spent five years at the major league level with the club before being dealt to the Milwaukee Brewers in December of 2010 for third baseman Brett Lawrie.

While the Blue Jays appear to have at least some interest in Marcum, the right-hander has expressed his openness to rejoining the club. The Blue Jays are reportedly focusing on adding to their starting rotation.

After maintaining an ERA of 3.85 over five seasons with the Blue Jays, Marcum posted a mark of 3.60 in Milwaukee during 2011-12. Last year he finished with an ERA of 3.70 over 21 starts spanning 124 innings.
