Now that the Los Angeles Angels have reached an agreement with
right-hander Ryan Madson the team is letting other clubs know that former
closer Jordan Walden is “very available,” reports Jayson Stark of ESPN.

Walden was the Angels’ closer for much of the 2011 season,
posting an ERA and WHIP of 2.98 and 1.243 with 32 saves over 62 appearances.
Despite his solid numbers he was not used in the same capacity last season
after getting off to a rocky start.
With the presence of Madson and Ernesto Frieri the Angels
don’t seem to have as much of a need for Walden in late-inning relief. Rather
than use him in a lesser role, Los Angeles appears willing to shop the
right-hander in order to help fill other areas of need.
Last season for the Angels Walden maintained an ERA and WHIP
of 3.46 and 1.359 over 45 appearances. Over three seasons at the major league
level the 25-year-old owns a career ERA and WHIP of 3.06 and 1.291 with 10.8
strikeouts and 4.0 walks per nine innings.
