Matt Kemp Injury: Dodgers OF Should Be Ready for 2013

The Los Angeles Dodgers received a bit of a scare earlier this month when what was expected to be minor surgery revealed significant damage to the shoulder of All-Star outfielder Matt Kemp. However, after further diagnosis the team has announced that doctors expect Kemp to be fully healed for the start of the 2013 season, reports Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

But Kemp, who's rehabbing in the Phoenix area, was also told he should be fully healed for the start of the season. He expects to start swinging the bat in January.

Kemp underwent surgery on Oct. 5 which revealed significant damage to the labrum of his left shoulder. The injury was to the point where doctors said they were surprised Kemp could play at all over the final month of the regular season.

Over 403 at-bats this season Kemp hit .303/.367/.538 with 22 doubles and 23 home runs.
