Brandon League, who battled a calf injury in 2011, was able to pitch in more games this past season than at any other point in his career.  He was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers just ahead of the trade deadline this past July, and he certainly boosted their bullpen.  Now, the Dodgers are rewarding him with a new contract.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, the move came sometime yesterday, but the exact dollar amount of the contract is unknown.  The deal is said to be worth three years with a vesting option.

League finished the season with 74 appearances and a 3.13 ERA combined between his time with Seattle and Los Angeles.  With the Dodgers, League pitched in 28 games and posted a 2.30 ERA.  He filled in as the team's closer when Kenley Jansen experienced heart problems that cut his season short.

League has not been prone to injury, but his calf injury in 2011 limited him to 65 appearances, his lowest since he had 31 in 2008.  League has pitched in the Majors for nine season and will continue to bring a veteran presence to the bullpen.

Hernandez says the deal is expected to be announced sometime today.  We should know the exact financial terms of the deal when it is made public.
